Troubleshooting Wireless Router Problems
How many times have we tried to connect to the Internet only to find out that our wireless router is having problems and will not allow us to? It is a frustrating problem and many of us don’t even know how we can try to fix it. Luckily we have some tricks you can try which might help to get it back up and running.
You should know right off that there is no way that you will be able to permanently repair the problem with the router. You can replace it – but if you don’t want to spend the money to do that right now than you will have to settle for a quick fix.
Start off by making sure the problem is with the router and not your ISP or modem. Hook the computer up directly to the modem and see if you can connect. If you can than you know for sure it is the router.
Turn your computer or computers off and unplug the modem and router. Wait no more than ten minutes. When the time is up plug the modem and router back in and turn the computers back on. In most routers there will be a reset button in the center. Push this and it should help to get it up and running again.
If your Internet connection is cutting out on a daily basis and this method did not help to get it working again than you need to call technical support. The manufacturer of the router should have a special number you can call. Tell them what you have tried and have them step you through their process.
If you are having trouble contacting them than you might have better luck on their support forums. On these boards the technicians or other consumers can give you an idea of what is wrong and a great way to fix it.
