Netgear Wireless Network Router
The wireless network routers from Netgear are some of the most popular on the market. They offer a wide range of routers that will cost anywhere between $50 to $170. The more expensive the model the more features you will have and the faster your Internet will run.
The more expensive models have twice the amount of bandwidth available, use concurrent dual band N, separate wireless-N access points for media and data, and allow HD streaming and gaming. The four gigabit Ethernet ports will offer you the maximum wired speeds to allow you to run several applications at one time.
Setting the router up is simple and will only take you twenty minutes. It works great for homes and business who have multiple computers and that need to share files and other information. All you have to do is plug in a USB storage device into the back port of the router and all of the computers hooked up to it will be able to exchange media, music, pictures, and documents.
This feature is highly useful – but can also be dangerous if you do not set up the proper security measures. If your network is not secured you are allowing people outside of the home access to your Internet and your files. Make sure to use a secure password that no one can easily guess. The higher model will have a firewall, denial of service attack prevention, Wi-Fi protected access, and advanced quality of service.
Consumer Reviews
Pros: Many consumers were happy with how affordable it was and how easy it was to set up in their home. Once everything was connected they were able to surf the Internet quickly and with little to no lag time. They were even able to connect their printers to the router without any trouble.
Cons: There were a few consumers who had difficult trying to connect their computers to the router. One discovered that the router had to be placed upright so that all of the antennas were up and not blocked. Another had no luck in installing. It is not clear if this was a problem with the router or the computer.
