Linksys Wireless Broadband Router
Linksys is a common brand that produces both wired and wireless broadband routers. For years they have been used by consumers from across the nation for their homes and for businesses. Their most popular model is the Wireless-G. This is a 54Mbps and is five times faster than that of the Wireless-B model used in home, businesses, and wireless hotspots.
Both devices will share the 2.4GHz radio band – but the Wireless-G device will be able to interoperate with the pre-existing 11Mbps Wireless-B equipment. This will help you to protect the 802.11b infrastructure that you already have and to move to the newer and faster device.
This device from Linksys is designed with a Wireless Access Point that allows you to connect with the Wireless-G or Wireless-B device on the network. The built-in four port full duplex, 10/100 Switch will allow you to connect to the wired Ethernet device. With it you will be able to connect at least four computers directly or through a wireless connection.
The router will then be able to tie everything together and allow the entire network – no matter what the size – to share the high speed cable or DSL Internet connection. Security is important on any wireless router that you own. Linksys has allowed the router to encrypt every wireless transmission being made and password protect the entire connection.
This Linksys wireless broadband router costs $60 and is easy to install into your home or office. It will serve as a DHCP server and will give you the ability to configure it filter the access people will have to the Internet.
Consumer Reviews
Pros: Consumers were pleased with how easy it was to install this router into their home. It was faster than the previous model and allowed them to search the Internet with little to no delay.
Cons: Unfortunately not all consumers had luck with this product. They felt that the signal strength for the wireless computers was not strong enough and it kept restarting.
