How To Use Two Wireless Routers
When you are surrounded by multiple connections all the time your computer is constantly trying to connect to each one. It is a long process to have to change the settings of the router every time you are in a different location. One of the best ways to put a stop to this is to use two wireless routers together.
Wi-Fi Card
If your computer is newer than it should already have a wi-fi card installed. If not than purchase one for it. These can cost between $20 to $100 depending on how fast you want your connection to be. Insert the disc that it came with and follow the instructions it gives you.
Network Location
Go to each of the networks location. If they are broadcasting from Service Set Identifier (SSID) than Windows should be able to detect them right away. SSID is the default behavior for most networks. A network icon will appear in the bottom right corner of the screen when they have been detected.
Configure
Configure the networks using the correct SSID, Wireless Encryption Protocol (WEP) or Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) key, and authentication data. Each of the networks must be configured properly if you are to connect to them successfully when you are around them.
To configure them go to your control panel and click on ‘Network Connections‘. Click on ‘Create A New Connection’. configure the new connection using the directions of the wizard.
Connect
In order to connect to a specific network you have to go to the ‘Start’ menu and click on ‘Connect To’. Now click on the name of the network you wish to use. When you move to a new location you can change the network the same way.
