How To Connect Wireless Router To The Printer

Wireless routers are great to use in businesses and in the home. It allows more than one computer to share the same Internet connection without having to be directly connected to the modem. This makes it easier than ever for people to access the Internet and each others files when necessary.

With a router you will have the ability to connect several computers to the Internet. You will also be able to connect your printer to the various computers in the home or business. This makes it easy for you to set up your home office however way you would like without running cables and cords all over the place.

Plug one end of the Ethernet cable into the printer and the other into the router. Make sure that the printer as a port for this cable. Most newer models will. Put the printer installation CD into the computer and choose the option for “networks”.

Turn the printer on and check to see that it is on the right network. To do this open the “start” menu and select “control panel” and than “network and sharing”. From there you will clock on “view computers and devices”.

You will have the option to plug the printer into the router via a USB cable. There are some routers that will come with a USB connection specifically for printers. This will allow more than one computer to share the printer through the network.

Open the “start” menu on the computer and click on “control panel” and than “printers”. Go to “add printer” and “add a network printer”. Instructions should appear on the screen so you can configure all of the necessary details.

To make sure that the connection has been set up properly you can test it out. Run a test page from your computer. Select “printers” from the control panel and the name of the networked printer. Click on “properties” and press “print page”.
